I’ll be visiting family for a week or so, so I may not blog as much as usual or even at all for a bit.

Whenever I see things like this, I wonder how they died. I guess it will always be a mystery.

I’m gonna go with “Stabbed through the head”

This is not cute. We don’t hug people who don’t want to be hugged. We just don’t.

Moffat's Women - My Theories on whether Moffat is Sexist. →

I’m sick of all of these claims that Steven Moffat is a sexist. I’ve heard, for example, that he doesn’t have enough strong female characters in his stories. So I thought I’d go down the list of some episodes that Steven Moffat wrote, which I think should prove that to be an unjustified lie.

Okay Its been a long time since I’ve done this but yes Moffat is sexist…. I’m only gonna go through a few of the characters you mentioned but here’s the one’s I picked.

First Nancy, a character I agree with you I liked but here’s Moffat’s opinion on her this is what he said about Nancy during the DW commentary of that episode and if you claim he was only joking you are part of the problem:

"SM: He’s putting it all together in his big Doctor Who brain. He’s thinking ‘You slut. You little Slapper. … [laughter] So are you busy later dear? So you’re 21? Come into the Tardis”

If you find a man who has said this about a woman not to be a sexist your just plain wrong. He’s a pig of a man just through this quote alone. He implies that not only does having a child young, and outside of marriage make one a “Slut” but that once a woman says yes to one man she says yes to every man. It’s got creepy rapey undertones to it and is quite an awful thing to say about woman.

Two Madame De Pompadour, was a brilliant historical woman however Moffat turns that woman into a cold hearted bitch and “World Famous Gardner” This was a woman who was friends with Voltaire and were never shown the Madame doing anything but having so very cheap romance with the Doctor. Furthermore  Moffat once again has very creepy rape undertones. She presses him up against a fireplace and forcibly kisses him when he didn’t look like he was going to kiss her in anyway I’ve said it several times if that had happened to Rose we all would have been horrified and yet were suppose to be turned on cause a woman is doing (Aka sexism) She literally invades the Doctor’s mind and never apologizes for it, then she flat out demands he has sex with her even when he insistently says No several times and although Moffat does say later that No the Doctor did not have sex with her the scene is left very ambiguous and it puts it into ones head that it’s okay for woman to peer pressure men into sex. The character also is very rude and condescending to Rose, who knows much more about the Doctor then Reinette, were also suppose to think it’s really heartbreaking that she guilt trips in a letter after she’s died. I could go on and I would suggest you read more but I’m gonna link that at the bottom of this.

River Song, her whole life literally revolves around the Doctor, she has no existence without him, not physically or emotionally.River’s born because of him, she’s ripped away from her parents because of him, River became an archaeologist because of the Doctor, she’s put in prison because of the Doctor. River has an extremely abusive and toxic relationship with him and yes it meets several of the criteria’s for abuse. River is in no way a strong female character.

Here's the link for more since I do not have time to post more, it's a list of all the reason Moffat is not only a good writer but a sexist one. This includes character's I haven't been able to mention here.

And finally you are White Male, you do not get tell woman what is and isn’t sexist, with something as weak as this post. You need to start understand woman’s POV not putting them down.

Thank you, theamazingcat, for writing the rebuttal I don’t have time to write.

OP, no one accused Moffat of not having enough strong female characters. The mere fact that you use this term shows that you don’t understand what non-sexist writing actually is. Or what sexism is. (Hint: It didn’t end when women got the vote and were allowed to work outside the home.)

Educate yourself.

Please don’t get the wrong end of the stick here. Please don’t personally attack me. I am not advocating that women should be stay at homes and not have a job. I am not praising the glass ceiling. I am not saying that women should not drive. I am not saying these or anything else related to the inconceivably, mindbogglingly state of stupidity that is the mind of a sexist.

I just think that there is too much bandwagoning, and I also think that he is being made out to be worse than he is. Please don’t make me out to be something else.

But that is precisely my point. Sexism is so much more than believing that women shouldn’t be allowed to do all the things you listed. I’m sure that Steven Moffat would say precisely what you said in your first paragraph, if asked about womens’ rights, and that he would mean it. And yet his writing is sexist and he’s said a tremendous amount of sexist stuff in interviews.

I didn’t mean to attack you personally, but rather point out that you’re not as informed on the topic as you think. Hence the link list.

Thought I'd take out my Moffat anger online by reading other people's comments on Listen, and came across the most important criticism I will ever read on the subject 'surely time isn't a sausage with two ends' - thankyou for making me smile after several hours of Clara/Moffat/pissing over canon Who :)))

And thank you for your lovely message. :)
